Baltikums Bank supports unveiling of a book by the president of Kazakhstan

March 09, 2015

Last week, the Column Hall in the Museum of the History of Riga and Navigation hosted the festive presentation of the first book by President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev to be published in Latvian: G-Global. 21st-century world.

In his work, Nursultan Nazarbayev addresses the global issues of today, analysing the state of global politics and economics. In each chapter, the author reveals the essence of Kazakhstan’s G-Global initiative, which is based on five principles: evolution instead of revolutionary political changes; fairness, equality, consensus; global tolerance and trust; global transparency; and “constructive multipolarity”.

The book was issued by the Association of the Baltic States and Republic of Kazakhstan for Economic Development and the Media PRO1 publishing house, with support from the Embassy of Kazakhstan in Latvia and the Latvia-Kazakhstan Business Club. The publication is intended for a wide readership. Most of the books will be gifted to institutions of higher education, libraries, science and research centres throughout Latvia.

It was first presented to the public several days earlier, during the opening of the Latvian Book Fair 2015 exhibition, held at the Ķīpsala International Exhibition Hall. Baltikums Bank had the great honour of being the key partner and supporter of both these events.

The event at the museum’s Column Hall was held in exceptionally celebratory atmosphere. The event was attended by highly esteemed guests from Kazakhstan, diplomats, Latvian Saeima deputies, heads of companies, experts, political scientists and journalists.

Kazakhstan Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Lithuania and Latvia Baurzhan Mukhamedzhanov greeted attendees with an extended analytical address.

“The relationship between our two countries is stable and positive. The time has come for us to take this relationship to a new level, making business our primary focus,” the ambassador noted, expressing his pleasure about significantly increased contact between entrepreneurs from Latvia and Kazakhstan of late.

Both in Latvia and in Kazakhstan, joint conferences, forums and business meetings have been taking place, gathering businesspeople from the transportation, transit, trading, realty and food industries.

The guest of honour at the event, Chairman of the Kazakhstan Republic Senate Committee for International Relations, Protection and Security Ikram Adirbekov commented that Latvia has been a reliable partner for Kazakhstan.“I am very happy to see how, despite our geographical distance, Latvia is a country close to us. We are linked to our partners in Latvia by mutual understanding on the most important of issues. The relationship between our two states stands on a solid foundation.”
Inguna Sudraba, Saeima deputy and chair of the workgroup for cooperation with the Parliament of Kazakhstan added that the issue of a book by the President of Kazakhstan in the Latvian language will allow a deeper understanding of progress that the friendly state of Kazakhstan has made. “We should hope for a book about Latvia to be published in the Kazakh language. It would be a great contribution to furthering this international friendship”, Sudraba commented.
Attendees were addressed on behalf of Latvian business by Dmitrijs Latiševs, Chairman of the Board at Baltikums Bank: “Publication of this book by the President of Kazakhstan in Latvian is a major event for both our countries. Each public and cultural event at this international scale no doubt contributes to business development. As a representative of business, I would like to add that our business dialogue is getting more and more active. With each meeting, each undertaking we reach more efficient models of cooperation for mutual benefit.”

Concluding the formal event, Kazakhstan Ambassador to the Republic of Latvia Baurzhan Mukhamedzhanov gave Baltikums Bank Chairman of the Board Dmitrijs Latiševs a memorial gift – three silver coins depicting state symbols – as a token of appreciation for Baltikums Bank’s contribution to holding the two unveiling events.
